I use Reiki, Seichem or Spiritual Healing for small animal healing.  As a Reiki Master who has done animal healing for the last eight years, I can feel the places in the animal's aura where the energy is low or stagnant and work to change this. Spiritual healing works on the same principles. This combination of healing is good for releasing stress, boosting energy, vitality and immune system response.  It helps release the shock of accidents, trauma or abuse from the system, and this is where Animal Healing comes into its own. It can help the animal become the happy pet you want it to be. It has helped resolve behavioural problems such as dogs urinating/defacating indoors and/or having separation anxiety. It is also excellent as supportive therapy for your Geriatric or Vintage animal.

Animals absorb the energy quite quickly, so the session may range from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Regular sessions bring most benefit, as I know from working with my own vintage cat. Please note that sometimes, a "healing crisis" can occur after healing. What this means is that sometimes the animal's condition appears to worsen for a day or so after the treatment. This is normal, and is part of the healing process. It is like a child having a high temperature, the temperature has to hit its peak before the fever breaks. After that day or so, the animal usually perks up and starts to improved. Healing is complementary to veterinary treatment and is not a substitute for it. To book an appointment or get more information, please use the Contact Form or ring (01) 833 87 92 or 087 274 6893.  Call outs to your house may also be arranged.

Mystery Or Miracle?

My vintage cat, Gannet, is 18 years old. She was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on her ear eight years ago but is still going strong. Then she was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) 19 months ago. CRF cannot be cured but the symptoms can often be managed to prolong good quality life.

For 16 months, I gave her subcutaneous fluids in a drip each day as well as tablets and vitamin drops. I kept her on a low protein diet as reccommended. And gave her lots and lots of healing.

On December 13th, 2010, she made it VERY clear that she had had enough of the drip. I respected her decision even though it broke my heart. I rang the vet and he felt that she would deteriorate within 7 to 10 days of being off the drip and medication. We made arrangements that when the time came, he would call out to the house to put her to sleep - he's a great vet. Because she was about to die, I started giving her all the foods that had been banned. She had nothing left to lose. I cooked free range chicken, fish, turkey - you name it, she got it. I dug her grave in the garden, and bought a new blanket to wrap her in before she went into the wooden coffin I made. I abandoned any pretense at Christmas festivities and spent the day with her on my knee, giving her healing. And I waited.

New Year came. Then another week. And another. And another. It is a total of twenty one months since she was diagnosed with CRF. And it has now been SIX MONTHS since she was expected to die, but she's still here.  No drip, no subcutaneous fluids, no medication, no vitamin supplements and no low protein diet. The vet can't explain it and neither can I, but I just accept each day as an extra gft with her. I thank her every morning and evening for "Another day with Gannet."

In recent weeks, a homeopathic vet, Emily McAteer (Tel 089 428 1884), has visited Gannet and prescribed remedies for her. As a result, she is more comfortable. It is like hospice care for humans - I want the best possible quality of life for her for as long as possible with as much comfort as I can provide for her. I'm prepared to explore all possibilites to that end.

She lies up on her electric blanket, gets breakfast in bed, nibbles on fish or chicken, purrs regularly and sleeps. Every evening she gets at least 2 hours of healing. The extra time has given us the chance of plenty of "quality time" together, without sticking needles into her or tablets down her throat. It has been an eye-opener for me, and who can say what is going on. Mystery or Miracle? Maybe both.

June 2011: Update on Gannet. Gannet survived a total of twenty months following her diagnosis of chronic renal failure (CRF) which is incurable. In the last six months she had absolutely no treatment for CRF, and still survived. She was put to sleep when the ear cancer became painful and died surrounded by love.

Dogs Aid

Dogs Aid is a charity organisation to help rehome unwanted, stray or abandoned dogs. It is near Ballymun. Rarely do they put animals to sleep, and those would be classed "unrecoverable" or dangerous. I am lucky enough to be allowed do healing on animals there on a regular and ongoing basis. The healing is especially good for releasing shock and trauma from the animal, allowing it to settle in and start eating, and hopefully be rehomed as quickly as possible.

Recently, I was asked to give End of Life Comfort to a cat that I will call Rosie. Her owners kindly donated €100 to Dogs Aid on my behalf in appreciation of my work, saying I had shown "kindness and comfort" to Rosie.

Distant Healing

Rosie and her owners remain on my Distant Healing List, as I do Distant Healing every day. If you would like your animal or pet to be included for free, for one month, please use the contact form to send details. All I ask in return is feedback and a photo, with permission to use both on the website.

Petcare At Home

I look after pets in their own home while their owners are away. I started doing this as a way to have more contact with animals, which I love. The animal benefits from staying in familiar surroundings instead of the stress of going to a kennel or a cattery. The animals get free Reiki as part of the service which helps keep them calm and contented until their beloved owner/guardian returns. Please note this service is only available in Dublin 3, 5 and 13.

Daily Dogwalking is also offered in the same Dublin areas only.
